hi gang
a saga from the Royale caravan owners club

we held my 60th birthday rally at Salkeld Dykes in the beautiful Eden valley in June 2012 and 8 Royale caravans attended
After the rally the site owners Phillip and Elizabeth got a nasty letter from the local planning officer saying that local residents had complained and that they and us were in breach of planning and they were going to take action.
the letter was passed to me as the rally officer and i contacted Eden district council and in formed them that our club holds a para 6 certificate issued by Natural England and that meant that for 5 days we could camp, and that we were exempt from planning for that period
the council disagreed, and so we sent a copy of our certificate to them and contacted our parent body ACCEO as well as Natural England to see if they would intervene on our behalf
Eden district Council stepped up the argument and threatened action
Natural England emailed the council and told them they were wrong and said that our interpretation of the law was correct and if they needed further clarification, the council should contact them for more information
Eden district council didn't contact them and in a recent letter wthat quoted a good range of planning law has now decided to take no further action on this matter
but has so far declined to make an apology
and i have been advised not to seek one as it may go against us when we wish to visit this lovely part of the world again

thank you ROB from ACCEO
and Paul from Natural England

typical they technicaly break the law, but don't have to appologise.

i bet if you'd have paid some extorcinate fee to them it would be all ok. to do something that had been done many times before.
