Tekaloid is not available here but I did the wheels on my hunter in a similar method and used oil based paint, magnolia, and must have given them 2 coats of galvacoat, sanded down and then 3/4 coats of magnolia sanding down between the coats and the result was quite good!!
with coach paint and a good brush it should be great! |

I seem to recall that Tekaloid is no longer manufactured. I bought some old stock and painted my BSA four wheeler chassis. It gave a good finish.

After some heavy reading i have plumped for a xylene based enamel in the old english white flavour. Should give me a durable finish

Top tip is to use a quality paint brush thats been well 'broken-in', or used a few times previously to remove loose hairs etc. Coach enamel is generally slow drying, giving enough time to work with the paint, apply liberally then 'lay-off' using gradually softer brush strokes- good luck!! |

For future use the Tekaloid name is now owned by Craft Master Paints. |

Why use an etch primer on steel wheels? It is designed for soft metals / alloys and offers very little benefit.
Use an epoxy primer, all but specialist etch primers do not offer any corrosion resistance. Remember, it is the primer that resists corrosion not the top coat. |
