If it is like the Austin A40 Devon I used to own (1949), there is a small nut on the bottom of the steering box which needs removing before the switch, horn button, and the tube down which the wiring passes, can be pulled up and out of the column. Maybe the Morris is similar?

- Is there any dirt on the shaft, that the bendix slides along? Maybe it is sticking on the shaft, try hitting the starter motor with a block of wood (not too hard!)
- Are all the electrical connections tight and clean? Maybe the starter is not spinning enough.

I try hittinhg on starter motor with a hammer, not too hard! But still not working Sad
I think the connections are ok because a few times ago its working. I push the bottom, the engine roll at first, second and thirth time, but at the fourth time bendix clutch on engine wheel. However now just rotate.

The starter will have to come off and be inspected. If there are no missing teeth on either pinion or flywheel, then give the pinion and shaft a good clean with white spirit or paraffin. Then refit and give it another try.

Hi

Its the free moment of the starter pinion that's important, it can just be seen on the top photo, and the shaft looks a little grubby or rusty? how freely does it slide up and down the shaft?
