A few weeks ago I tried polishing (maybe not the right word) a painted panel with Eureka fluid film. I did the boot panel on my Rover. It leaves a very fine film of Lanolin wax behind which can be removed for touching up etc but it makes the rain water 'bead' and run off very well and for a car which has to stand outside offers a bit of extra protection.
I tried an old door panel a long while ago and it doesn't affect the cellulose and helps get rid of any oxidised panit. It also helps stop water running behind trim etc, outside it seems to last six to nine months.
I intend to respray the rover at sometime but in the meanwhile it provides a bit of extra protection.I was surprised to see the use of oils to protect paint is quite widespread and a google search shows other suggestions. _________________ Thirty years selling imperial hand tools for old machinery(Now happily retired). |

One bonus I found,in heavy rain I usually get a small amount of water in the boot,I've never been able to find where it gets in. Since applying this I've not had a drop gt in even in really heavy rain. I guess there's a weapy seam somewhere that water cant penetrate if its beaded well. _________________ Thirty years selling imperial hand tools for old machinery(Now happily retired). |

Well if it works (in its natural state) in protecting sheep on rainy hills in Wales , I suppose there is no reason why it shouldn't work on a car
