How tricky or easy is it to use video editing software?? any recommendation? peter s has had a go at youtubing too if I remember right. I'm guessing that I'd need a digital camcorder to start with?

Some mobile phones have a digital camera built in these days. Mine has.

I took this clip at Santa Pod a couple of weeks ago, but I've used Photobucket as the host...

I've got a few short digi recordings that I've taken on my digital camera, not sure whether they are up to much mind, will have another look at them.

This is a film I shot at the beginning of the year looking around the VSCC hillclimb event with cars pre-war.

Hi Richard,

Your Brooklands coverage looks very professional. If you haven't already been there, there is quite a lot of pre-war Brooklands film available.
See: http://www.oldclassiccar.co.uk/forum/phpbb/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4180&highlight=brooklands

Hi Rick,

A good editor helps a lot. I think the ones you have to pay for are rather better but the Microsoft Movie Maker comes for free in XP. That's what I've been using. I think it's hidden somewhere in Accessories but if you can't find it it's available here:

Hi Richard,

How do you switch YouTube to display in widescreen? Sad

Peter,

To the right of the speaker symbol there's a rectangle, click that. ESC to exit.

Hi Art,

Sorry, I don't mean full screen 4:3, I mean 16:9 widescreen.

I don't know if you can Peter. My cameras only record in widescreen so either there is some widthwise compression or it slices off the image on each side.
Here is one from the Jim Clark Film Festival earlier this year

Hi Richard,

Thanks. Yes I had a look at Yahoo Video and Photobucket and none of them seem to support 16:9. It's quite surprising really as I'm sure they could very easily offer a switch to display as widescreen. I haven't tried it but I suspect it might be possible using their embed facility and just changing the parameters in the string.

Peter Sad

p.s. I just tried adjusting the embed parameters but they only change the width of the control panel. The video aspect ratio remains unchanged. Sad

This was the introduction talk at the Bruce Castle Museum last year about plans to build a Lotus Museum on the old hornsey north London site where Lotus started in 1952

Delving within the more distant reaches of the forum, I thought this topic from 2008 might be worth a re-visit. Are there any more budding Youtube-ers willing to share links to their online video offerings?
