I make great use of my mig welder- a Portamig- which I really rate for body repairs. there isn't much it won't do.
Recently, I saw on eBay, the old Kel-arc body welders being sold again, along with the single- sided spot welder. The body welder is a rod holder with a vibrating action, the theory being that this reduces burn-through.

These things have been around for years and predate the domestic use of mig machines and were presumably all that was available for welding thin sheet at home - oxy-acytelene being the garage option then I suppose.

Despite reading all kinds of negative things about these devices I thought I'd take a punt on one, along with the spot welding gun.
I'll report back on my experience with these things once I've tried them for the benefit of others, but in the meantime does anyone have any stories relating to them?
