I have a 1933 Morris Minor which has rust around the rear wheel arches and the door pillar.
Because I am not very experienced in car body restoration and this rear panel is almost flat and quite a simple shape i reckon it would be easier to fabricate and replace the entire side panel rather than make up a curved wheel arch repair panel section.
I plan to cut it back and and undo the original joint which is a joggled joint that has been spot welded and lead solder filled.
I feel quite confident about repairing it this way and it would look original inside and out ( you can see the inside of the joint when you look in the boot space).
My questions are;
a) Is Fryolux solder paste suitable stuff to use with the solder? I have plenty of it
b) how do you make sure all the flux is inactive at the end of the job? There is no sign of corrosion in the existing 80 year old joints and it would be nice if I could achieve the same.
Thanks

Hi Mike
The Frys solder paste will be fine. After soldering clean it up with water, and then panel wipe (the panel wipe will absorb any remaining water and then evaporate)
