For me I think it was the Malpas steam/vintage rally, simply because it was the first large event that the truck has been to, under its own power. That was a significant weekend for me. Thinking about it, we probably attended more events this year than any season that's gone before. Apart from Malpas, we took either the Volvo PV or the Dodge car.

Which event(s) stand out for you this last year, and why in particular?

It would have to be the Scottish Riley Enthusiasts National Weekend at Edzell in May, the first one I've been to. It rained on the way up and we thought we were in for a wet weekend but by the time we arrived the sun had come out and stayed that we until the Monday morning when we left.
We had a totally enjoyable time, met some great people, the Riley behaved itself and we've already booked for next year.

I can't quite decide between the Donington Historic Festival and CPOP. It was my first time at Donington, and although there was more going on than at CPOP, and it was largely stuff I hadn't seen before, and it featured "Old Nail", Gerry Marshalls old racing Firenza in its first outing for decades, it's also a lot further away so more of a pain travelling back and forth, and my water pump blew up on the way back forcing an emergency swap on Friday night.

CPoP was great, weather was rotten on the first day but better the rest of the weekend, there's a lot going on but it does suffer from having a lot of repetition in terms of vehicles. And it's a lot closer.

The Pre 50 A.A.C. Rally of the Giants, at Blenhiem Palace. Great venue and you see cars there you will never see anywhere else.

Second best was the Kington vintage show at Kington Herefordshire. A bit of everything there. Cars, commercials even push bikes and steam engines.

The American day at Prescot hill climb has great potential and really good turn out, but they need to brush up on their organisation and the commentator needs to do his homework on American cars.

We didn't do too many rallies this year but one which stood out was the West Somerset Railway Steam Gala. Although small it was a nice 20 odd mile drive each way through some lovely countryside and the show attracts large crowds and some diverse vehicles.

The steam Rally at Old Warden in Bedfordshire is the biggest and best for me.

Although there is a good variety of alsorts of vehicles and machinery, I go to this one for the Steam and not so much everything else.

I would highly recommend "La Vie en Bleu" at Prescott. A superb variety of cars (mainly French obviously) many of which I've not seen before, action on the hill all day, great paddock atmos.

One of those events for which one day isnt enough, so get there early

I'm with you JD. And well done to the guys at the Pre 67 Ford club for putting on a great day.

The first show I went to this year was Glamis Castle and that was pretty good as well, mainly due to the diversity of exhibits and the amount of autojumble stalls. Is it just me or are we getting less and less proper quality parts at reasonable prices at autojumble's these days? I came across a lot of 'junk' this year with ridiculous prices.

For me it undoubtedly the AMOC tour of France, Switzerland and Italy back in May. Took in the Schlumpf Museum, the Mille Miglia exhibition, a tour of the Zegato design studio and a 2 hour session on track at Monza plus a return drive over the Fruela Pass (Stelvio was closed) - wonderful 10 days!

As, whenever I go, Vintage Shelsley Walsh. It's great to see prewar cars really being driven in anger, you can spectate from virtually all of the course, and best of all you can enter the paddock and admire the cars at close quarters.
