Originally known as the Ritmo, which I believe was changed because some people called it the Flymo _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

1979. Was it really 35 years ago?
Of course it was, tempus fugit.................
I haven't seen a Fiat Strada since the 1980's but does anybody remember the Not The Nine O'Clock NEWS "send up" of that advert with Austin Metros on the Longbridge production line?
It had genuine "line" workers all calling each other "Bob".

It was on the Ambassador line, but who cares, British humour at its best.
Thanks for the reminder.

I loved the 1936 film.
But what fascinates me is the fact that we know about the people who design the cars, but we never hear about the brilliant people who design the machines to make the cars.
Unsung heros all. |

You make a very valid point. I started work as an electrician at the N.C.B (National Coal Board). Productivity was always attributed to the managers, but many front line troops in engineering created the equipment that made it possible, it was the same years later in other companies.
This forum must have unsung heroes or descendants from such, please speak up. |

Hi
My father was a marker off at Drummond Bros. in Guildford.
Drummond lathes, gear hobbers and gear cutters were supplied to the some of the British car makers. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.
