I am trying to get rid of a player piano, currently on ebay for free. Can't shift it. It is complete but doesn't work and needs effort put into the pneumatics. They are fantastic machines. I'm going to end up scrapping it which would be a real shame.
I spent years working on flight simulators. A very early one was the Link Blue Box. The entire mechanics of these were based on player piano bits as Mr Link was a player piano engineer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fKYyWS9Yfr0
I wonder if I can find a steampunk enthusiast who would take the mechanism?
Anyway, rebuilding a pianola would keep someone quiet and amused for an extended period

About 35 years ago I bought an American organ (like a Harmonium) and restored it to reasonable working order. I never learnt to play it and put it on eBay a few years ago with a starting price of 99 pence.

A very nice couple from Durham bought it and they were the only bidders. They drove up and took delivery, handed me a pound coin and I handed them a one penny.

I'll put it on another forum where I know of a couple of enthusiasts. I assume it's this one:

That's the one. We had a harmonium too. We sold that a few years ago, much simpler prospect to restore.

Try David Roger Burville (D R Organ Restorations.) I think I saw another one in his workshop. He operates from near Canterbury.
