Hello again,

Two years ago I drove Route 66 and have taken loads of photos of the many old cars I spotted along the way.
This one intrigues me.
It was lying in a field along with lots of other more ordinary stuff of the 40s and 50s.
It looks like a special (and probably is) but it does not have the "hand knitted" look of many home built cars.
Does anyone have any ideas?

I am still trying to work out the process of uploading photos so forgive me if this does not turn out quite right.

Ronnie Johnston

Very interesting, looks like a home-brewed hot rod to me from the 1950s.

If you hit Enter between pasting in the links to the photos, it'll show them one below the other, rather than alongside each other which requires lots of scrolling to the side Smile

Hi Ronnie,

From what is visible of the rear suspension it looks as if it has a transverse leaf spring. I would guess Ford. The use of a bonnet (hood) for a tail section is quite clever.

Morris Minor bonnets were popular tail sections on UK 'vintage' specials in the 1970s!

It's surprising how a fresh eye can spot details that were previously unnoticed.
I have looked at these photos quite closely and never once did I notice that the rear section is a car bonnet!
Now it has been pointed out it is very obvious but I had not spotted it.

Thanks,

Ronnie J
