I have been looking at this van, as you can see on my pic i like this type of van , its easy to say what the van is not, Carlight no the van was made befor carlight existed, the build of the van indicates late 20s , the construction is middle of the road not good enough for brayshaw or Eccles also Eccles used a 4 stud axle not 3, disco wheels not artillery wheels
The Square corners of the van are not like a hill van these are rounded
this leaves one of a dozen or more gypsy /showman's caravan builders
that are listed in the book A palace on wheels and these have few photos or descriptions that you can tie the van to
I would love to restore the van but the over optimistic price makes it not practical , £2k tops in this condition, the angel lamps a mess and the stove a later replacement |
