| The alloy diff case suggests low-volume production; the backplates look like they have Girling brake adjusters, so probably date from the 1930s onwards. Could it be something like early Reliant? |

Not necessarily—early Morris Eights featured an alloy diff housing. |

Obviously Girling braked as already mentioned. Is the rather unusual angle of the cylinder slider slot a clue?
As Rick says a wheel view might help. And perhaps identification of hexagons and drain bung as Metric or Imperial fasteners would narrow the possibilities of origin.
