I believe that I mentioned the desire to drop in on my sister for afternoon tea. Well to bring interested Forumites up to date, we drove from our home, 100 miles East of Melbourne, to Perth in Western Australia, and arrived after 6 days. The trip took us from one side of the continent to the other.
The tea was delicious, but catching up with family was really wonderful. We stayed in Perth for a couple of days, and are now doing a little touring before re-crossing the Nullarbor plains and working our way home.
I am writing this from a motel room in Albany W.A. So far we have covered 4,400 kilometres. Our steed is our 1982 SD1, and as one would expect from a Rover, it is performing extremely well
We have encountered a couple of items of motoring interest and will report on them when we finally get home, which will be in about 2 weeks.
Finding internet connections is somewhat difficult, so I am rather pleased that I can post this up date.
TTFN, will report again when we can

A quick update- We are spending the night again in Ceduna, having reached Perth, wandered South to Albany and Esperance, and re-crossing the Nullarbor Plain. Odometer shows that we have clocked up over 6,600 k's since leaving home. Today's run was from Cocklebiddy (population eight people), and covered over 750k's.
Our plan is for a little touring in South Australia, before making our way home. We intend to be home by about the 16th. June, but that is a flexible plan.
Best wishes to all,
Dane, the getting weary traveller. _________________ Dane- roverdriver but not a Viking. |
