Recent press release:
-----------------------------

THE COUNT DOWN IS ON FOR CASTLE COMBE'S
CLASSIC & RETRO ACTION DAY.

With over 50 owners clubs booked in and ready for action and the introduction of the new Castle Combe Rally School, Classic & Retro Action Day on Saturday 28th June is attracting a record number of classic & retro car enthusiasts.

The organisers of the event have worked tirelessly since the end of the 2013 show to gather feedback from visitors resulting in many new and exciting features, ensuring that their Classic & Retro Action Day remains at the top of every enthusiasts' calendar year after year.

"Many of our regular visitors have attended this action day for years and we owe it to them to make sure that we're constantly evolving and improving the event. Some of the feedback we received after last year has resulted in us making some popular changes," states Jo Sparrow, Marketing and Events Manager at Castle Combe.

"Each Track Session at this year's Classic & Retro Action Day will be run on a 12-car permit and not the normal 28-car permit meaning that there will be less cars out on track and more tarmac on which to play," continues Jo. "Back by popular demand, the Bristol Vintage Bus Group are booked again for 2014 and will be offering complimentary passenger rides around Castle Combe Circuit."

Also new for 2014, and for those enthusiasts who aren't attending as part of an owners club, is the introduction of a Cherished Vehicle Display Car Park. Open for all Classic & Retro vehicle enthusiasts travelling to the event in their pride and joy, this new feature will not only make for a spectacular sight but it will also be a cost saving for classic vehicle owners. Cars entering this area benefit from an admission of only £10 per car (including driver). Alternatively you can gain entrance to this car park plus admission into a Slow Parade Lap for only £20.

The 1.85 mile long circuit, situated in Chippenham, Wiltshire, will host various 'themed' track sessions that based on the era of the vehicle and will include pre-1960s, pre-1970s, pre-1980s and pre-1990s. Drivers can enjoy a fast paced track session, a gentler parade lap with or without a pace car or a leisurely lunchtime classic cruise.

Owners Clubs are offered various packages to attend including the chance to bring up to ten display cars for free regardless of if they use the circuit or not which makes it a fantastic opportunity for clubs to attract new members. Each package has been designed in line with feedback gathered from many owners clubs from previous events.

There are packages to suit all clubs whatever their membership size – those clubs wishing to bring 20 cars are offered space from as little as £100 while a 40-strong club display would cost just £240 (£6 per car).

For the ultimate speed experience, the Classic & Retro Action Day team has joined forces with Dynamic Drivers, the organisers of the new Castle Combe Rally School, another new feature for 2014. For those wanting to switch from the straight-line speed of the race track to the thrills and hand break turns of the rally track then why not give Rallying a go whilst you're at Castle Combe on the 28th June. Choose between a 3 hour full Rally Driving course or a High Speed Rally Drive Passenger Lap (2 laps) in a Subaru Impreza WRX Turbo.

Off the circuit, there will be family fun with classic games and entertainment as well as time to browse the trader village, offering classic motoring parts and spares, services and memorabilia. Visitors can also enjoy a traditional afternoon tea and local fare. Castle Combe’s Classic & Retro Day is open from 9am until 5pm on Saturday 28th June. Adult ticket prices are £12 in advance, £15 on the door. Tickets for senior citizens are £8 in advance, £10 on the door. Entrance is free for children under 16 years. Track and parade sessions start from £10 when booked in advance. Camping units are available at £8 in advance, £10 on the door. To book tickets or for more information, phone 01249 782417.
