| I have read that pre 1965 Mercs are appreciating fast - any thoughts on this. Does anyone know where one can get market reports or trends on the values of classic cars? |

| Correct me if I'm wrong, but the impression given by your posts is that you're simply in this to make money. Most contributors to this forum are motivated by a sincere interest in old cars and a desire to help others enjoy theirs. |

I will point out that humans are driven by different motives. One does not wish to invest time and effort into a car that is worth less that than the input.
I am simply being prudent in my decision to buy and invest my time in a car - this does not exclude me from having a "sincere interest", which I do, or asking a valid question, which this is.
This forum is obviously a clique that has no time for a newbie so I will ask my questions where the contributors are more helpful. |

Hi Dak,
sorry you might have misunderstood, I meant that you won't find number crunching analysts who know there way around a spreadsheet on here, we are too busy fixing up old cars for all that stuff

Hi DAK
This forum is most certainly not a clique and in fact is one of the most friendly and helpful forums I frequent..not sure how you can come to your conclusions after only a few postings.
Stick around, contribute, and you will learn this for yourself.
As far as trends go, you need to read publications such as classic car etc that follow the auction houses.

Hi Kevin,
Thank you for your kind reply. This was my intention but it isn't nice to be accused of being non genuine on the very first post!
I am still at the researching stage before I commit to a car so will keep reading around the forum.
Thanks. |

Sorry that you've had such unhelpful replies Dak.
Having visited the Classic Salon in Antwerp and Techno Classica in Essen earlier this year I can confirm a healthy interest in post-war Mercedes cars with many dealers showing them on their stands at both shows. As a member of the Mercedes Benz Club I also know there's a healthy market in the UK with W124 models in particular in great demand - though those these may be too recent for your interest.
Prices of many classic marques have firmed up recently, no doubt boosted by low interest rates, and if I had more garage space, I'd consider investing in a classic or two - one of them might even be a 60's Mercedes (I spent a few years in Germany at that time). _________________ David
