I guess a few of us have got Dyson Vacuums. Yesterday a new (though a quick internet search shows it not to be so new) Scumbag Scam reared its head: Wife took a phone call "How is the Dyson" "OK" she replied. "You realise it is due for a service.......
Now we have a Dyson, only because it is light enough for SWMBO to carry up stairs. The thing has the suck of an asthmatic ant eater!
More importantly we got it "reconditioned" of a market stall in exchange for about £30 worth of green folding stuff. Utterly untraceable! So how does Scummaster know that (A) I have it and (B) that it needs servicing. Answer he don't!
Beware such scammers apparently are cold calling with this scam and charging up to £200 to fit a new belt - whether its needed or not.

I have a Dyson and can recommend the genuine Dyson service dept.

Our Dyson emitted a burning smell and I thought it needed a new motor, I could buy on eBay for about £50 but when I checked on the Dyson website they offered a full repair service for a one-off £72 and £75 if I wanted a 12 month warranty. I took the 12 month option, paid £75 by card.

Their engineer called on the promised day, agreed it needed a motor and told me it could do with a new belt, a new header/roller, a new hose and new main cable.

I asked how much that would cost and he said 'nothing extra', 'you paid the £75 and I can either do the full monty today or you can call anytime in the 12 months at no extra charge'. (I see it is £79 now)

I am aware of many cons and scams but I can say I was really satisfied with the genuine Dyson service and their price.

Last Halloween, I was at the back of the house, when a dark hooded figure approached. He had a scythe in one hand and was coming straight at me. In a panic I grabbed the object nearest at hand and beat him off with it. It turned out that my weapon was our vacuum cleaner. Talk about Dyson with Death!
