So, sorry to depress you but as we are half way through August and staring autumn in the face, what are your plans for this winter?

Mine are to give the Singer a deep service to re-check all the recommissioning works, possible convert it to alternator and sort an oil leak from its sump.

Other main project is to restore my first motorbike from when I was 14..its a 1977 Honda cb125, I wont ride it but will be good to have it in nice condition just for the memories.

Oh, and possibly join a club..there seems to be one called the weaver wanderers who always seem to be..erm wandering..lol so something along that line that will have me in their ranks

I hate dark nights they are so depressing.
I'm going to take my time re-building the Alvis engine, at least I'll have something to do in the workshop and not sat in front of the tv.

I have no real plans for the Minx other than regular winter tinkering. But I have got plans to buy another car so may well have my winter nights sorted depending what I get.

It is just over a year since I took the decision to switch to part time work on the basis that I want to find the time to do more stuff that I wantto do before it's too late!

Most of my home DIY 'round tuits' are in hand so I am looking forward to (and hoping for) at least 3 days a week in the garage. But the projects are piling up already.........

I promise (you heard it here first!) to get the BMW up to MOT standard by the spring. The 100e is overdue for a respray so that's next, then my mate's MK2 Zodiac which is really a fetling exercise but a further challenge will be a Moonfleet speed boat which we've acquired to tow behind the MK2.

So who'll remember to bump this thread next spring?

I'm hoping to get my project to a point where it can be painted, though the down side of that is I'll have to decide whether to do it myself or have it done elsewhere. I was hoping it would be painted by the end of this month, but that's not going to happen.

Living on the Isle of Wight the roads during June to September get pretty clogged up with people who are lost or are not sure how to drive on narrow country lanes, gangs of lycra clad cyclists riding 3 abreast etc. so I rarely take the Pilot out as too much of a headache. I prefer to do my fettling and repairs during the summer months.

Now come September and the roads start to empty out I can go out most days, park for free on the seafront and generally enjoy the car.

Roll on autumn....

There's a few jobs to tinker with on the Volvo and Landrover so my evenings are sorted.

Replace the foam padding and diaphragms in my front seats as they are now desperate! May also need to replace the frame on the drivers seat as there has been a fatbloke sitting in it!

Plan to keep the same covers though as the are quite good and new ones would spoil the "patina" (cost too much!)
