I have just returned from a 11 day vintage and classic car indulgence trip to the Dordogne region of France.

Amongst many different car related events I also went barn picking ( American Pickers Style).

I would arrive in a small village, walk around until I spotted someone who had old items in their yard and before long would be given a guided tour of their house, barns and around their land.

Tractors and machinery would be started up, old cars opened up for inspection and old barns opened for me to look inside.

After the visit we became firm friends and was asked to visit again.

They are so happy to show you all their vintage or classic items, unlike here in the UK where we keep strangers out of our properties for fear of being robbed.

You just could not walk around a rural village here and be treated as a genuine enthusiast asking to view their property and take photo`s.

Here are just a few photo`s of my finds.

Talking of French vehicles.
Saw this sorry site at a museum, evedently it's been there for a few years just rotting into the ground.

Not sure what it is as I've never seen one before.

Great to see the photos. There's a R16 like the one in photo 2 soon to be ejected from my (late) great uncle's place in Wales (G reg. I think??). It'll probably end up getting the chop, no-one in the family is being involved with clearing the place Sad

Underneath this lot of rubbish is a Citroen Ami 6 Break.
Built 1968.

This car is very original and rust free. When I lifted the carpets the floor was like new. The door bottoms were like new. The engine bay very original and rust free. Absolutely no welding required on this one.

This would clean up very easily.

The engine is free.

A car that is quirky looking and was not that attractive in its day, but now in this condition very rare and different.

The Ami is surprisingly nice. Also slightly odd,in that it has twin headlamps,as opposed to the standard oblong items.Perhaps a later modification?IIRC,they were only 6volt,so the headlamps were never going to set the countryside on fire Laughing
I remember the R16's beatifully supple ride. Most of todays cars simply couldn't match that.Unfortunately, they were also ferocious rusters,so now quite rare.
