What exciting buys or finds have you missed out on, by the skin of your teeth?
One that still irks me was quite a few years ago, in North Wales. I popped into an Austin Rover garage, in Abergele I think, to see if they had any interesting old bits and bobs from the BMC days, in a store somewhere gathering dust. At the time I was running the A40 as my daily.
The salesman told me that a couple of weeks earlier they'd skipped a load of old bits, including panels, new interior trim, and so on. If true, that was a definite "Grrrrrrrrr" moment.

Some years ago a fishing company near me ceased trading. I was told that a small skip had been filled with tools including some enormous whitworth sockets and spanners, slogging wrenches 'shifters' and all sorts. I rushed round but they'd gone. Later the boss (who I always though was a sausage roll short of a picnic) told me that he'd got fifty quid for the lot!. _________________ Thirty years selling imperial hand tools for old machinery(Now happily retired). |
