I am pleased to report that I have had a reply from Ian Ferguson, Librarian at the VSCC. He confirms that the location is the Bisley rally on 26th February 1950. Unfortunately, they have no records of UW 5990 but I feel that I am getting somewhere at last.

My Dad always thought the location was "Stoney Castle" so he was in the right area.

All I need to do now is track down the car!
