A very poor previous job on my 54 MG TF before I purchased the car dictates that I`m stripping my car back to bare metal before a respray (hopefully will save on cash). As this is obviously going to take some time what should I treat the panels with as I go to avoid to much further work by the sprayer shop people. |

It's going to be some sort of epoxy primer I'd say but if I was getting a professional paint job then I would discuss it with your chosen painter.

I coated mine in phosphoric acid (milkstone remover). That kept it in good condition until all the paint was off and I could paint it with epoxy primer. Getting the paint off took ages and made a helluva mess, I used nitromors and quite a few poly abrasive discs. I ground the acid off before painting which was messy but not too arduous. |
