| Well here we go the definitive answer to the Question from peak/banbury b&b bought standard 10 inch hubs from lockheed and modified them to there own auto reverse as lockheed wouldn't make the larger size the pivot and the small spring are b&b parts and are obsolete (we will have to get some made ) |

Hello Christine,
Sorry, but I don't quite understand your reply. I'm interested as my Carlight has B&B running gear and I would be interested in modifying it (if that's possible) to have an auto reverse facility. _________________ David Rachel

hi david
lockheed didn't make 10 inch auto reverse brakes only 8 inch at the time
and b&b wanted 10 inch ones, so they made there own pivot and spring to make modified lockheed auto reverse brakes as the top photo shows
both the pivot on the left and the small spring are B&B parts and are no longer available
this information comes from a gentleman at banbury trailers / peak dynamics (same firm ) he worked for B&B in the seventies

above is a 10 inch lockheed brake |

| David, I think probably the easiest way to do it would be to use the back plates complete from a BB/Royale chassis. Perhaps Chris has a couple of spare ones. |

All I can say at the moment is that it has 14" wheels; as for brake size I assume you refer to drum diameter; I'll have to investigate further. _________________ David Rachel

The simple solution would be to look for a spring that you can modify, find a return spring of the same thickness and the same number of coils, then alter the length to suit.

there are still a myriad of great businesses left in our glorious country that are able to replicate the spring so first stop is to see how much new ones are they may be a standard off the shelf size anyway
