One of my sons called to see me yesterday. He has wanted an old Yank Tank for some time and when he told me over the phone that he had finally bought his "dream car" I wanted to see it.
Imagine my delight when he fronted up in my driveway in a gorgeous blue 1971 Corvette Stingray! My delight increased when he threw me the keys. After approaching the car from the wrong side (She's a left hander!) I slithered under the steering wheel while he removed the targa tops. (It was a nice late summer afternoon)
I haven't driven a left hander for about twenty years, but within five minutes I was very comfortable with it. (We drive on the same side of the road as the UK)
The car is as tight as a drum and is in superb condition, obviously well restored. The burble of the V8 through the standard twin exhaust system gives you goose bumps!
My son has bought very well indeed and it will take at least six months to get that grin off his face!
Next time he's around here I'll get a photo of it.

This hits quite a note with me.
I have always enjoyed cars, trucks and bikes. We have 3 wonderful sons but, despite seeing me tinkering during their youth, not one shows any interest in cars other than for transport. They have very nice cars but not of the kind I would hanker after. They are all moderns.
What did I do wrong? |

Dipster,
Commiserations!
Not enough oil with their weeties?
My GD loves fiddling with Y-axis handle on my Tom Senior milling machine, only 3-years old, so hope for her
