Anyone got experience of the above? It seems to be becoming a target for scammers. They have even added fraud advice to their site. From personal experience I suggest you tread very carefully, or not at all.

It has been around for quite a while, and I have sold several classic cars via that website over the years, without any issues, the last being my Morris 10 a couple of years ago. I have also bought a couple of fairly local cars via it without any problems arising from the sale, but I would not buy sight unseen, from any source.
The scammers are everywhere now, but providing you are not lured into placing a deposit on a car that you haven't yet seen, or accepting some kind of strange money transfer then I don't see that buying a privately owned car via the website should be any more precarious than buying from any private individual, wherever advertised, providing that you have viewed it at a proper owner's address.
In terms of dealerships, I am always a little suspicious of 'dealer' websites with only one car on, but, again, its just a question of going to have a look.

You do sometimes see a car that is there for months on end and wonder why it hasn't gone. Usually the reason is that it is over priced or in a remote area of the country that precludes easy viewing.

I think that the safe message here is that you should always go and view before committing , even if you have seen every inch of the car photographed and talked at length to the owner on phone or email.

Have you had a bad experience with it.

I've always considered it one of the more reputable sites for classic sales. Just about all sites are targets for scammers these days, it pays to be wary, irrespective of where you buy from.

I think ebay has gone really bad with scammers now, the last 4 items I have sold have all been non payers! And its just old car bits not anything expensive!
