When I bought my Mark 2 Jaguar in 1991 it still had the rare factory option of inertia reel seat belts with the Jaguar emblem on the buckle.
Because the car had been unused for ten years or more I decided not to refit them and replaced them with a static set from another Mark 2 which was being broken for spares.

Two questions therefore :

1 Where can I get the original Inertia Reel belts and mechanism restored?

2. How do I clean the static belts? They are grey in colour and I would like them to be as clean and pristine as possible. Can they be hand or machine washed and, as important which detergent or cleaning agent can be used?

Thank you.

Ellis

Thank you gentlemen.

What about the inertia reel mechanisms themselves? Both are over 50 years old and I really don't want to start dismantling them.

It may be of use to someone, FTDS of West Byfleet Surrey can recondition the mechanical part of the inertia system.
I only found out by chance this evening.

I've used Quickit Safety Belts to have a pair of belts refurbished before - that was mainly to have new webbing fitted though, still good now, though another chap I know had some done and wasn't as happy. I'm sure I've read somewhere to not use any kind of detergent on seat belts.
