Hi All,

The photo below is of my Granddad in North Africa during the 2nd World War. He was a Driver with the Dessert Rats 1st on Ambulances and then on Diamond T tank recovery. But I'm pretty sure that the car in the photo is neither of these. There are stories that he also did "despatch riding" for a bit but he refused to ride a motorbike so did it in a car!

I know it's not much to go on but it would be nice to identify the car propping up my Granddad!

Thanks in advance for your help.

It could well be a 1938 Chev truck.

Google 'Image 1938 Chev Truck' and you will see vehicles that look very similar. The shape of the side of the grill is probably unique to this model.

Tricky? On this site? This is the Worldwide default site for blokes who reside in sheds full of interesting oily tat, who consider overalls a business suit, and will fall at the feet of a woman who puts a dab of ep90 behind her ears. Tricky? Pah! Laughing

Look at the state of the truck which was only 4 or 5 years old when the picture was taken compared to the one that was probably getting on for 80years old!

Still, there was a war on i suppose!

Likely 1938 model. The front grille was altered slightly from 1939.
