Hello all,
My names Bill and I'm new to the forum. In my garage i have an old Fordson 7v truck, its been been in the family since before I was born (Im 36 now). I'm sure it would be a great restoration project but unfortunately I don't have the time or money to give it the treatment it needs. I don't have a log book for it and don't even know what year it is. It has rod brakes which I've heard makes it one of the earlier ones.
I'm just wondering if anybody on this forum knows anything about these trucks? I'll post what pictures I have below. Any help would be much appreciated!

Hi Bill,
Welcome to the forum.
They were made both pre and post war. Your's is post war so 1946/47. From the registration: 1947 Carmarthenshire.
I have the Motor Trader info for it if you are planning to do some work on it.

Thats great info thanks! I don't have the time or the money to restore it unfortunately and its been taking up the garage space for too long. I'm going to sell it but i don't have any idea of what its worth so im just trying to collect information to put with the advert

That looks a great little project. One of my definite favourites the 7V. My grandfather used to run one and have always liked them as a result.
If I had space.
Agree its post war, the pre-war grill was much more shaped than the post-war flat front. |

Why was it called the 7V, when it had a V8 engine?

| If I recall they were introduced in 38, the two cars introduced in 37 were the 7Y eight and the 7W ten. |

I used to drive one of these(about 1958) & as you say,rod brakes, which were definitely iffy going astern. Used to deliver to a tip which had a baulk of timber to reverse against to stop going over the edge - health & safety???
