Hello everyone! I'm the new kid on the block I'm 20 and run a minor 1000 as my daily driver! And recently rescued an F type Victor! I've previously owned a hillman super minx(brilliant car), mk1 cortina (not so brilliant) and a Ford capri (FAST)! I've not got a problem I promise
Any other F Type victor owners on here??? I'm struggling to find one! |

| Welcome. Good to see young members. The younger generation opinions on what are "Old Classic Cars" would be interesting. I am sure there are many senior members who have collected a huge range of tools and equipment over time. I for one would wince at the cost of replacing everything. Where have you started with tools etc ? |

Good to see you on here too! (I don't post anywhere near as much as I should)
Peter, speaking for myself (at 23) I can say I have done very well with tools. Yes, I have spent quite a lot on tools and have amassed quite a collection (especially having to duplicate most stuff for work) but I would say this is nothing compared to some people. I mainly buy second hand - in fact I can probably count on one hand the hand tools I have purchased new (I actually bought some metric Halfords Pro spanners in the sale as I don't have much metric at all and could do with something half decent!). People who have given up playing with cars etc have donated me quite a few tools knowing they are going to a good home! Ebay is good - local listings of full old tool boxes from shed clearances etc are heavy and can be £10 and contain some real good stuff! At work I only use imperial too (don't get much metric on steam engines!) and the older spanners and sockets are generally cheaper as not a lot of people seem to want them (especially large stuff). My toolbox at work is almost exclusively brands like King Dick, Britool, Snail Brand etc and they didn't cost me much! |

Maybe we should have a tool appreciation thread? - Calum, more info on the steam machinery you tinker with sounds interesting too

Rick pitched the idea, let's not throw a spanner in the works because it's good to torque. |
