I used to work with a guy at the Chevy Dealership who was originally from Cuba. He was always talking about all the old 50's iron that was driven there. He even brought in an old photo album to show us.
Old-Nail, I see a Buick at that link for ya!
See a few Studes and Chevy's I wouldn't mind having. |

I do believe though that many of the classic american cars in Cuba have had the original engines and so on replaced by alternatives. Even so, they do look in good condition dont they?
A couple of unlikey places for classic vehicles is India and China. In India, the still make the old '50's Morris Oxford, now in metric! Unfortunately, export is illegal, I believe. In China, a '30's Dodge truck ('34, I think), as well as the pre-war BMW sidevalve motorcycle. Those can be exported!
Are there any others? |

Isn't the remade Morris Oxford called the Hindustan Ambassador or similar? Isuzu power I think, and a plasticky new dashboard. Still a recognisable Morris shape though. There was a guy in the UK importing new ones, not seen his adverts for a while though (no takers?).
I've been told that 50s Dodge Kew lorries are still in production (India maybe?). The Herald was also built in India as a 4 door, and stuff like the 'Arrow' series Hillman Hunter was made overseas, I think called the Peykan in Iran ....

Seems like they also still make the 205 & 405 Peugeots, and the Renault 5, in Iran

Relax bb, It's the Hindustan Ambassador, based on the 1957 Morris Oxford, but with an Isuku engine, fuel injection and (slightly) more modern dashboard. They can be imported, an Indian Restaurant in Birmingham has one, I suppose they use it for delivering takeaways. I did a double take when I saw a signwritten Hindustan with an 05 registration
Here's a good picture of one:

| Yes, you are right of course, they can be exported! What I was thinking about was the fact that older vehicles cant be exported from India. A pity, because theres some good stuff there as well! I spent a 6 week long business trip there in early '90, I was like a kid in a candy store! |

| I'd really like to go there before things begin to change, it's kinda like Jurassic park - for cars! |
