From what I have seen I quite liked the previous series.

It will be catch up time for me as it clashes with Moto GP from Argentina

Just watched the first in the series, have to say I didn't really like it. The car sold for £150k and it all just seemed a bit unrealistic.

They said that in 10 weeks they spent more than 6000 man hours on it, in these programmes do they cost in this when they say how much they've spent?

I must admit I try to drown out the bits where they bang on about the deadline, I'm not sure if I just don't believe them, or quite what it is. But when Phil Glenister was going to see the finished car he did say something like "I've waited long enough" which made me think "hang on, it's only been ten weeks".

I enjoyed the programme more than I thought I would. The car was nice, some interesting stuff going on with it, but still too light on the actual process for me, too much faffing around filling it out. I know, it wouldn't be interesting enough for mainstream TV if it was more like the "a xxx is born" series, but still. I also wondered when they were going around that track with aircraft in the background, whether it was the Top Gear track, or perhaps a cheeky reference to it.

I quite enjoyed it, and I liked the DBS (in that colour especially) more than I thought I would - although I'd still hanker for V8 if I owned an "S".

The location of the rainy test session reminded me of Bruntingthorpe.

Didn't watch it but interesting maths. 600 hours per week over 10 weeks is 120 per day based on a five day week, and the £87,500 quoted by the Independent as the overall cost equates to £14.50p per hour labour and parts. And I know that Aston price parts make us Jaguar people smile thinking we have been let off lightly. So we are probably at about £7 per hour labour only. Or is that £87,500 parts and no labour charge? Aston people charge around £100 per hour including VAT so we have a cost of £147,000 for the refurb adding the two together. I will try and watch it on catch up to see where I am wrong - if at all.

I watched it and thoroughly enjoyed it. If you cut through the crap about deadlines etc. what they managed to achieve with the Aston Martin DBS was quite remarkable - although it's a pity they didn't show more of the hard work involved; that body was a complete mess to start with. The Vantage conversion with manual box was the right choice and that blood red leather with the olive green paint turned out much, much better than I ever thought it would.

The buyer said he would be using the car but I doubt it will be out that much. You don't pay £150,000, a world record, and not treat it as an investment...

What makes this programme more believable than others, is that their restorations are sold at COYS classic car auction. The Series 1 Land Rover in the last series also made record money.

Give me more of this good T.V. - it's light entertainment I can enjoy without feeling my intelligence is being insulted.

Its easy to watch. I'd guess Phillip Glenister knows about as much about doing up cars as my old granny but thats still a lot more than Mike Brewer.

I couldn't agree with you more!

I can't stand that Brewer's sarf Londin voice. It wouldn't be quite as bad if he wasn't so patronising about... "my mechanic, Ed...."

I sometimes think if you have a big enough ego and a gob to match you can get on in T.V.

Now who else could fit that description I wonder??? Hmmm...

For me Brewer and Glenister equalling appalling, they just aren't necessary IMO, but then how many programs do we watch where an expert describes something and then a jobsworth celeb says it all again, often while waving his/her arms about. Tony Robinson, Fiona Bruce, the Flogit Twerp and many more.

I have an Apple TV with Netflix, iTunes and NowTV as well as YouTube and Vimeo, so can avoid the slimey, shiny lot of them. They just aren't normal.

Ash ranting!

Ed China is okay. Wink

PS. I caught a brief glimpse of my Bristol 400 during Coys auction of the DBS, seems to have doubled in value since 2012

Bristol 400... I was put off one a few years because the engine would have cost almost as much as the car to rebuild.

I wish now I had taken the plunge. I just love those cars - I always have!

Everything on it was complicated and expensive, it took forever and although the engine had been rebuilt, the head and block were scrap, so £12,500 and then the body. It was very expensive indeed and not that great a car when it was finished, but an interesting bit of history.

The Ex-Police Rover...rubbish. They have messed up a reasonably good format by hybridising with the style of Top Gear's silly projects and the SOS programme.

I agree, last night's ep could have shown a lot more detail of what went into the resto. The Daimler SP250, and the biker at the Ace, were interesting in their own way but out of place in this programme imo.
