I trust that less senior members of OCC will forgive the title as they may not have a clue what it means.
Google "Tracy Island" and/or watch the link here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auiP1YdelEo&feature=youtu.be
This project was infamous because it is likely that no one, outside of the Blue Peter studio, ever succeeded.
Back in the late 60's I decided to build a trolley jack. When it was finished I was able to drive my Mini up onto some pieces of wood, so it would slide under and then drag the thing, I couldn't make castors, across the ground and pump away for several minutes to achieve the 2 inches of lift. Then more blocks under the Mini and other pieces of wood on the jack and lift it another 2 inches. A ready supply of wooden blocks were required because of the "self lowering" feature of the jack.
Back then, "Trolley Jacks" were out of reach for most pockets. Now my own garage is home to two. They serve as reminder of times past. |

One of my ex-work colleages has plans for a slightly different island but he is still struggling with progress too.
He uses the following as his signature message on another forum:
| Quote: | | Can't afford the volcanic island yet, but the plans for my monorail and the goons' uniforms are done |
