So...having decided that after a welding marathon the missus's Wolseley 1500 needed a proper shake down and an MOT, I thought, since I've got business in Hawick ( 50miles away ) I'll do the round trip and MOT her in Hawick ( where I used to get my MOT's when I lived nearby ) befor my meeting.
She bundled and clattered her way down the A7 just the very thing...I was still feeling very pleased with myself when I rolled down the hill into Hawick thinking.." Hmmm...I can smell hot Bakelite"
Two minutes later I rolled into the MOT station ...on fire
I just got the bonnet up to find the dynamo and the control box on fire!!!
I ran into the station, grabbed a bucket....screamed "where's the tap?"
Having chucked the bucket full of water into the engine bay and waited for the steaming to subside...I pressed the button and she started. I drove her into the station and half an hour later emerged ...with an MOT!!!.
Apparently arriving on fire isn't a failure....sure the charge light was on but that's not a failure either. So I phoned the rescue and got lifted home.
New dynamo and control box from Andy Bradley and she's back in business...
That is until yesterday when the starter motor packed up and stranded the missus at Aldi!!!! |

Did I hear correctly yesterday that Clarkson, Hammond and May cannot do a programme on ITV for 2 years due to a contract clause between Clarkson and the Beeb? _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |
