I've had this picture for a while and every time I look at it I think it's a Rover possibly a P2. Any other suggestions?

I don't think it has helmet wings. I wondered if it might be an older model...
..but equally it doesn't have a straight top to its windscreen.
Perhaps a Talbot 10?
...but the headlamps are too long front to back.

The road is stunning, quiet and well worth the effort to travel to it. The road forms part of the 'North Coast 500', where a lap of Northern Scotland from Inverness, west to Applecross, head to the north coast, then east to JoG, then south down to Inverness again.
Stunning driving road, quiet, and second to none views, but a word of caution, when we travelled it last year, petrol stations can be closed on Sundays, and with an effective range of around 100-130 mies in the Morgan, a spare can is essential.
Just for interest, we stopped half way up the climb to Applecross to allow the water to drop from boiling, and again half way down to allow the brakes to cool, as the all invading aroma of cooked shoes and burning paint was getting a little much!

My first thoughts were a Rover P2, but looking closer I think the rear body line is wrong; there is no obvious step from roof to boot. I am trying to persuade myself that there is a V to the radiator - could it be a small Armstrong Siddeley?
Incidentally, I thought Hardknott Pass in the Lake District was the steepest public road in Britain, and the Pass of Glenshee was the highest... |

An interesting suggestion:
I think the post card photo is actually a collage and the car cut-out may have a deceptive shape.

Possibly the most under rated car?
I think this would have been a pre war six cylinder Fourteen. It went by the name "roadrider ".
Lovely!
(P.S. It must be pre war - I don't think Lanchester started up again until 1950 due to the Coventry factory being destroyed by German bombing. ) |
