Hi all,

can any of you guys tell me what make this is ?

It dont look like any Avanti or Butler map light I ever saw.

The base & shade are crackle painted metal, and the switch is stainless steel.

Shade is big.

I've come across the name Stanley a few times with, oddly, old Honda stuff - both motorcycles and cars, in the shape of numerous Triumph Acclaims which are really rebadged Honda Ballades. Could it be something for the Japanese market, perhaps?

Stanley make screw-drivers & other tools. Could it be a work lamp from a lathe or drill-press?

Stanley Electric Co., Ltd.

Stanley Electric was founded in Japan in 1920 for the purpose of manufacturing and selling automobile lamps. Presently, the company boasts an unchallenged share of the market as a manufacturer of automobile lighting equipment. Also, in 1976, it was the first company in the world to commercialize high brightness LEDs, which are now used in a wide range of fields. LEDs have evolved together with Stanley, and are creating a world of plentiful light which is kind to the environment.

The name of this manufacturer comes from the name of the explorer Sir Henry Morton Stanley who left mighty footprints on the African continent in the latter half of the 19th century, and was noted for his foresight and courageous determination and energy - traits which have parallels with Stanley Electrics spirit of enterprise.

Thanks for all the replies.

Hope to find a picture of it ?

I can see the wires have some colour as both Avanti & Butler,s rally lights.

Regarding use on a Lathe = not in my book Wink

The bulp wouldnt be 12V, and the wires would have been a different type (and sitting together) they would also not be this long.
