Please tell me to stop posting if I'm getting annoying BTW as I say I'm no expert whatsoever.

Perhaps you could tell us what your interest is?
Do you simply collect log books?
The first of your van log books was the first to use OHV BMC A series engine. It had capacity of 803 cc and was pretty anaemic. It might have started life as a Post Office van.
The second log book was probably for a van with the upgrade to 948 cc . It would also have a crude remote gear change instead of the earlier long and flexible one but an improvement none the less.
Similarly the 1958 might also have been Post Office but for telephones.
Such as this: https://www.flickr.com/photos/gwoodward/8201715970
Normally this type of registration number changed each year but I see your 1955 van had a UXH prefix as does the 1958 one in the flickr link. Perhaps UXH was a special series issued to Post Office vehicles.

Not a scammer, just someone seeking to identify cars on old logbooks, logbooks that were then being advertised, often for quite high prices (ie more than would be reasonable for sales just being on a memorabilia/curiosity basis, look-pretty-in-a-frame-on-the-wall, type of thing). Clearly they were being valued individually, based on the desirability of the car for which an id was being proferred, even if technically the id had lapsed at some point in the past.
Being associated with the advertising of old logbooks that clearly could be bought by people wishing to "magically" bring the cars in the documents back to life (ahemm), wasn't something I wished the forum to be associated with, indirectly or otherwise. I certainly didn't want future new joiners to join simply to try and buy the logbooks that were being discussed.

| Yes this scam is becoming more common on certain auction sites and elsewhere. I reported a seller offering a log book and the ident plate from a volvo. The original volvo having been scrapped, so I believe the term is cloning. Imagine a base model car cloned up to top of range and an unwary buyer comes along thinking he has just bought a rare whatever car. Thieving barstewards |
