The Peugeot 404 is my winter daily driver, the underside is protected with ml and stonechip,4 new tires and a blankett on the backseat.
My '48 Anglia and the '62 Anglia are in storage in the greenhouse, but if there is no snow(salt)on the road they will be used in the weekends.

I generally keep mine available for winter outings when the weather is kind.
I think that mothballing a car can be a waste of time, unless you have a proper and expensive climate controlled environment at your disposal. A decent dry garage is a good response, but, since most cars rust from the inside out, I think that paying attention to keeping the shell watertight with decent window rubbers, etc, is a good idea, plus pumping your favourite wax goo into the box sections. If your car has to sit out in the weather under a cover, or if you get caught out in bad weather on a run, then you are in with a better chance. _________________ 1953 Citroen Traction

Mine is kept insured all year round, not had a huge amount of runs out this year due to getting out up the hills walking, gonna start going through it again soon, give it a deep service.
The mx5 needs getting out of storage too in readiness for selling in the springtime.

One of the few advantages of living on an Island surrounded by the Gulf stream, is the temperate weather we enjoy, so my preparations for winter will be restricted to the 'modern', ie, check the washer bottle, and swop the wheels/tyres over to winter variety, ready for the lower temperatures and the travel south through the Cairngorms. No need to do anything else as I always check lights wipers etc and replace as necessary. _________________ KA

Starting to put the rad blinds on - ordered exhausts as waiting for the Land Rover exhausts to dissolve away in the winter salt as they do every year _________________ Rover P2

Anno domini is taking its toll and I use the cars less. But the E-type will remain available for those cold, fresh, crisp days when it is a delight to go for a spin. |

I'll be getting my 1.5 MoT'd next week, ready for some winter jaunts. We organise local runs throughout the winter months, including a New year's Day drive around the Peak District - for those without a hangover... _________________ David

The southern hemisphere is looking forward to summer, of course, but we're fortunate to be able to motor throughout the year. It doesn't snow this far north, so no salted roads, and frosts are uncommon in Auckland except in low-lying sheltered spots.
In South Island it's a different matter, but they can keep it—Auckland's quite cold enough for me. I've been in snow only twice since leaving England 45 years ago—in South Africa's Drakensberg mountains, and in the Chilean Andes. I sincerely hope never to see the stuff again.
