I have a tin of Fluxite...been using it since the 1970's..[don't do a right lot of soldering if I can help it]...
Your box of jumble sale bits looks like my working tool box....which has spanners in it I bought, used, back in the 1960's...
I even keep spanners I have broken....jus in case the other end proves useful, one day?
Busted screwdriver handles even get a bit of square section steel welded across the end as a tee handle...
I use, with regularity, as an 'instant reach' toolkit [which usually lives in my Dellow, within easy reach]...housed in the tool roll one once used to get with every Skoda Estelle.
Including the Skoda -issued 8 & 10mm spanner, and the same 17 & 13 mm spanner. The double ended flat & cross head screwdrivers I have lost long ago..I think??
Used to take one with me to work...always useful to have, along with a biro...
The skoda tool roll is giving up the ghost slowly, sadly.
It's laces are becoming ever shorter, and the inter-compartment stitching is all disintegrating, so all the spanners and screwdrivers are getting mixed up now...
Which is a shame, really, as it's a useful tool roll...not as big or grand as the new, quite expensive [for what they are?] posh-looking tool rolls available today...
I really don't believe buying a posh green [Castrol lookalike?] tool roll, to be 'seen' as a gucci handbag accessory for one's highly polished classic car when on show to Joe Public, to be worth it...How long would it last in regular, oily usage?
So I might just have to learn how to sew??? _________________ Dellow Mk2, 1951 built, reg 1952.

Talking about old tools, I have two flexible brake hose clamps with GIRLING engraved on them. I have seen people use G clamps and Mole grips but never the correct tool. It is something I inherited.

I am sure I bought a similar set a few years ago, new so they are still available. No Girling engravings of course. _________________ a car stops being fun when it becomes an investment |

This is one of my favourites. Originally part of a comprehensive Crypton tuning kit the beauty of this carb balancer is it so easy to use. Note the numbers on the display can be read from either left or right location.
This was given to me by my late Father in Law. He worked at a local garage. When cars stopped being fitted with carburettors it became obsolete and would have been thrown out. |

Here is something that a side valve owner might benefit from.
