In its day it was considered by many to be no replacement for the outgoing V12 E-Type (which itself is often viewed as a poor relation to the first 3.8s).

Following the launch of the first cars in 1975, a number of derivatives and engine options (5.3, 3.6, 4.0, 6.0), in closed coupe, convertible, and in-between SC/cabriolet form became available. Outside firms concocted their own variations on the theme, two memorable examples being the Eventer estate, and the wild-looking Lister.

Bad ones are still cheap to buy, but for a while now the prices for mint examples have been climbing.

Would you ever own one?

Have you owned one?

RJ

Never had one or driven one but good examples are quite superb looking GTs to me.

I had one.Never took to it. Fast but in a disappointing way and a big, wallowy old barge to pump round Norfolks roads. Far and away the worst car I've ever had for rot (and this is from a guy who owns a fairway taxi),the whole back axle fell off in the middle of an MOT,which funnily enough it failed.
I guess a good one might be worth hanging on to but once bitten twice shy for me.
