Afternoon all,
An interesting project, in what's now usually referred to as "barn find" condition.
It was parked up in 1971, in the USA, with 5,600 miles on the clock. I've no idea really about the relative desirability of the various Austin-Healeys, but on the face of it this would be a rewarding car to return to the road - at a price, no doubt ...

A young man, in his thirties, who lives locally bought an ex USA BJ8 three or so years ago to fulfill a lifetime ambition.
The car, in green and cream, was nearing it's restoration last year and it was entrusted to the garage of a friend of mine for final fettling prior to an MOT and registration last year.
I don't know how much he paid for the car but I believe that the restoration alone was "approaching the thirty thousand pounds mark".
Every part was extortionately priced and it confirms what JME Healeys - Everard Healeys - said in a classic car magazine fifteen or so years ago, then that there was no such thing a a thorough restoration for £20,000 even then.
I saw one "restored" Healey some years ago which despite a glossy red and black paint job was a mess. Misaligned panels, awful door shut lines and the look of a car that simply did not look "right".

| My rose-tinted spectacles would suggest that this one doesn't need restoration: a bit of recommissioning and a quick polish and it'll be ready for the open road! |
