This is a rather nice country navigation run followed by a display/natter at the Duke of Hamilton's country seat. I only had a crummy phone camera with me so only took a very few snaps.

The first thing that caught my eye was this 1922 Sunbeam 3½ hp.

There were 75 vehicles in all and quite a spread of ages. Of the younger sort I was drawn to two unusual cars. The first was an E Type that had been very neatly fitted with a 7 series BMW engine. Sorry, I didn't snap it. Another was a 1968 Reliant Scimitar GT fitted with a rather attractive supercharged Mustang engine.

Lastly I was drawn to this 1929 Austin Windsor.

You might take exception to the exterior mirror but the rest was lovely. The extending petrol filler under the driver's seat was an interesting feature.

The road run was not without its fun too. Not long after the start a number of cars ahead of me took a wrong turning and I did too but soon realised the error and after a multi-point turn in between two farm gates (The SS is quite long and has a 40' turning circle.) I got back on track again only to have to give way on a single track road to a large volume of cars who were all going in the wrong direction. The fun didn't end there as I'm sure there was a missing sign that would have sent us all on a continuous loop if we hadn't known where we were meant to be headed. Anyway, it all added a good laugh to a very enjoyable day out. Always a good event.

Peter
