Morning all,
News of this year's award scheme:
------
Press Release.
Transport Trust Restoration Awards 2016.
The Transport trust is the only national charity established to promote and encourage the preservation of Britain's unique transport heritage in all its form – air, land (road and rail) and water (sea and inland).
Each year the Transport Trust invites nominations for awards to assist individuals and groups who are working hard to preserve items of importance to the Nation's transport heritage. Awards are made annually to high quality transport restoration projects which are well advanced but which could be helped towards completion by a cash injection and recognition from the Trust.
Awards generally come with a substantial financial lump sum up to £3000 which it is hoped will assist with making good restorations great. Award nominations are invited anytime but those for consideration in 2016 should be lodged with the Awards Administrator no later than 1st October 2016. An Award Panel will then sit and select winners which will be announced in the early New Year, and whilst award cheques will follow shortly afterwards winners will be invited to a high profile transport related location for an awards ceremony (the 2015 event was held at Brooklands and awards were presented by His Royal Highness Prince Michael of Kent)
The award criteria and entry forms are downloadable from the Transport Trust website (www.thetransporttrust.com) or by conatacting the Awards Administrator for either a hard copy form or printable PDF format application form.
In addition to the Restoration Awards nominations are also invited for the Trust's Preservationist of the Year Award, Lifetime Achievement Awards and The Young Preservationist of the Year Award (which has a £500 prize). These awards enable the Trust to acknowledge and publicise a wide range of endeavours in the cause of transport preservation – from management or administration to hands-on restoration work.
In announcing the 2016 awards the Chairman of the Transport Trust, Stuart Wilkinson said:
“The awards we give are a key part of the good work that the Trust does which ranges from maintaining a database of Transport Heritage sites to assisting major projects with loans and in making bids for funding from other sources. Over the years we have seen some exceptional entries and the winners of awards have found that the combination of financial assistance and official recognition has enhanced their projects considerably.
Regarding the awards process, Paul Brook, the Awards Administrator said:
“Over the last few years the Trust has been able to recognise some fantastic projects and individuals and we look forward to doing the same in 2016. Entries can be from the land, air or water environments and can range from the small to the huge – all will be considered against the Trust criteria and judged accordingly. So whoever you are and whatever you are working on, have a look at the Trust website and if you think that your project qualifies, then complete an application without delay!” _________________ Rick - Admin

I had a transport trust award for my Commer lorry, it was a great help. I also made the trip up to London to the awards ceremony which was quite an experience. _________________ Various Rootes Vehicles. |
