I don't want to start a war as I know opinions on this can be strongly held but...
I have bought parts from banger and stock car racers in the past, most have been decent blokes and selling parts to part finance their hobby. The cars I've seen are well past any economic restoration and I saw most before they were raced as I have no real interested in watching or attending the races myself. Some of the cars they have bought were cheap or in one case free, some have been relatively expensive possibly because of the spares potential?. Many times I've heard then say that the people keen on restoration will not pay decent prices so they end up with the vehicles that the restorers turn down.
I am now moving,I have loads of spares I've been hoarding for cars I own and have owned, one day I promised myself I would swap the unwanted stuff for spares I do need,or sell some to finance other projects. Now,I'm moving.I'm going a long way to a place with a collection of outbuildings and garages,my car collection would be easily able to be increased, but its costing me a fortune.I have five or six cars to move and the remaining stock from my business as well as three sheds full of car spares and the contents of my house. I have been advertising the surplus spares and tools and to be honest most will end up going to the scrap yard. I've been messed about by dealers and 'buyers' and apart from a few odd bits on ebay my efforts have made a tiny dent in a very big pile.
Maybe I'm the only person who hoards stuff that 'might come in handy one day',maybe people just buy new ,either way I see what the banger racers meant.
