Morning all,

This may have come up before but ..... shortly I hope to "tax" my 52 Moggy, it's still down as PLG on the V5C logbook so wants updating to Historic.

Can I rock up at the Post Office once I've insured it, and get them to send the logbook off to DVLA on my behalf to get the taxation class updated, and tax it for me at the same time? ie making me legal to use it there and then?

thanks, RJ

I think you will have to pay the normal VED fee at the Post Office, then send the V5C off to Swansea for them to re-issue a new V5C together with the VED refund.

I did exactly that Rick, mine became eligible for Historic status April 1st last year, I went to the PO on that date and they applied for the change in status for me, then taxed it for 12 months at no cost.

I am told that some POs don't do this, don't realise they can or whatever reason. So I used the one at Wells Green, if that's any use.

Amazingly it worked ok, and the PO has sent off the V5C to have it updated.

The lady behind the counter was as surprised as I was that it worked, apparently when she'd tried in the past to do it (I think being MOT exempt too is an extra possible complication) it had refused to play ball.

I recall you can check online with the Post Office to see which branches can carry out certain services.
