Morning all,
This year's Audlem Transport Festival took place yesterday, and as in previous years, it was very well supported with a huge variety of (mainly) old vehicles in attendance.
Vehicles gather in Hankelow, prior to setting off on a leisurely road convoy down to nearby Audlem, where the cars drive around the village on closed roads, before re-assembling on the local field for the remainder of the day.
Highlights for me were:
- the race-prepared big Healey, built this way by Donald Healey for a customer that went on to race it in Singapore.
- the very original Herald 12/50 with an interior to die for.
- an immaculate Humber Super Snipe.
- a stunning straight-eight Bugatti that had been driven up from Peterborough that morning, en route to the ferry for Dublin. This was Sir Malcolm Campbell's road car in the 1920s/1930s.
- The Honda S800 was a little cracker too.
This is probably the best local show that we attend, even the weather was on our side. While there I bumped into forum-ers Mike and Hedd, the latter brought the pair of Austin 7s we parked alongside.
