Has anyone else caught this on C5 as yet?

While some of the period footage is quite amusing, the "celebrities" that they interview for their "in-depth" insights into the world of classic cars, and now-old cars back in their day, are by and large deeply cringeworthy with just the odd exception. The voiceover chap is pretty annoying too, all IMO naturally.

Do we really need another programme where muppets continue to suggest comparisons between an E-Type's bonnet and parts of the male anatomy? I mean really!!???!?? And the unnecessarily fruity language at times precludes junior watching it too, which is a shame (or would have been, had the content been higher quality).

Obviously it's not as bad as the Classic Car Show from a year or three ago, but there are quite a few better programmes on the subject out there worth looking out for.

You'd have thought that the initial program might have started with pre-war cars, perhaps even pre WW1.

Hi Rick/Peter, what a disappointing load of twaddle. Where did they find so many ' celebrities ' who had absolutely no knowledge of any depth about cars?
Shan't be watching any further episodes anyway, cheers,JD.

'Celebrities' so little known that even they seem unsure of who they are. Total tripe, you'd get more useful facts from the Bunty annual or 'Jane and Bill go to the seaside with mummy and daddy.'.

I'm glad it's not just me who is fed up with this sort of dross.
They should get US to make a programme.
How difficult can it be?

Hi
Now you all understand how Driving Instructors feel about the C**p programmes about learning to drive etc.
they are always edited to death in order to denigrate the instructor and make them fit a stereotypical format.
The same applied to the 100yr old drivers programme.

One thing they showed on a couple of occasions, during the Lotus Europa piece, was a badge that read Europe, presumably affixed to a car they were looking at. Was it ever badged as a Europe, perhaps for a foreign marketplace??? I know little about them so just wondered if this was a correct badge or not?

I've been recording these to watch at a convenient moment, sounds as if I might be able to save the bother.

Some of the old footage is interesting, but the (mainly) muppets talking about their in-depth experiences of old cars you could easily FF over.

Agreed, some of the footage caught my eye but most of it was dross. We turned over in the end.

I'd rather watch Chasing Classic Cars or my current favourite American Pickers.

Have you found Jay Leno's Garage yet?

Cheers - I've started recording most stuff on commercial channels so I can FF over advert breaks and general padding.

I've been watching Jay Leno's Garage, that's reasonably good apart from some of the howlers, such as when they were talking about the MacLaren F1 but showed a film of a GT40, and last weeks comment about the Amphicar having a Triumph Herald engine, a "small four-door sedan". In fairness they're so brief that I wonder if they're throwing them in on purpose to see if anyone's watching in detail.

The Amphicar did use the Herald engine, and a 4 door version, different name, was made. But the bit of show I managed to see before it was zapped off of the internet, was dreadful at its best. Not helped by the "front faces" who, for some reason are credited as being presenters.

However this kind of TV is not made for the likes of OCC type members.

The word "car" is the only thing the two would share in any conversation.

That "annoying" presenter is my nephew (by marriage) Rufus Hound, and I can confirm that he has never shown any interest in or knowledge of old cars. He does however have an agent that says yes to everything!
