I think there are several reasons why these restrictions are put on.
1: A complete misunderstanding about copyright.
2: A similar misunderstanding about " the rights to use a person's image"
3: The mind numbing amount of people who are desperate to have their "selfie" taken everywhere. (I would tell you about the guy I saw taking a selfie in an upmarket restaurant washroom, but no one would believe it.)
4: Selfie Sticks. ( People with "selfie sticks" should store them out of the sun. )
5: Loss of revenue from official postcards/prints etc.
When photos were expensive, i.e film and developing, a quality postcard was the way to go. Now 25 images of the same thing cost the same as 1 and that cost is so small it isn't even an issue.
Here, at home, our Quilting business takes us to many Quilt shows and the attitude about photos varies from 100% paranoia to no restrictions. Again huge misunderstanding of what is "the law".
It seems that today, the only thing not photographed is a real life alien, pity digital cameras were not around when there were regular alien sightings. |
