Hi Chris. I am also a frustrated Photobucket user and found this line on their web page interesting
TinyPic® owned and operated by Photobucket.com, a free Image and Video Hosting company
Does Tinypic allow you to downsize the images so we don't have to scroll the page across to see everything ?

Hi Peter, I thought the pics were coming out a little on the large side, but not seen anything on 'tiny' pic to downsize... I'll have another look at some point but keeping busy enough with other things rather than looking for web photo hosting sites... I'll let you know if I come up with anything though as I think the pics are important to go with the story. _________________ HC Viva, J4 van, Ariel NH350, BSA M20 |

Hi Chris. You are correct, photos are almost essential. I had a look at the site and couldn't find a resize option. What I did find though was a reference to photos being deleted after 90 days. That is not good for topics that often run into years. |

Fitted new clutch slave cylinder, put a kit on the master cylinder and all bled up nicely, great pedal... however, clutch does not actually operate. Suspect the friction plate has stuck to the flywheel with rust - I'll try a few tricks to get it unstuck today and hopefully I won't have to drop the gearbox!! ... and then while running the engine the water pump started gushing water out so a new water pump is on the list as well. _________________ HC Viva, J4 van, Ariel NH350, BSA M20 |

Quick update... clutch still stuck fast, think I need to fix brakes first to 'shock' it free... rear brakes done and ready for bleeding, stripped the fronts down today, will have a look at what's needed tomorrow hopefully.
Bought a new water pump ready to fit, but today the exhaust fell into 2 pieces... two steps forward and one step back !! _________________ HC Viva, J4 van, Ariel NH350, BSA M20 |

Another quick status... still can't use photobucket and struggling for an alternative... shame I can't post from my PC directly - however...
Brake cylinders all needed replacement (x6), as did the adjusters on the front brakes... plus a few pipes very rusty too, jobs all now complete.... well, nearly - still a bit of air in the system, needs bleeding out again, but brakes working OK now.
Put the back up on axle stands, gave the engine a good revving, banged the brakes a few times and eventually 'POP' clutch came free. Didn't want to go too mad as coolant is very low... next job water pump.
Have to confess, I did have a little shunt backwards and forwards in the garden - first time it's been driven in 23 years momentous milestone!! _________________ HC Viva, J4 van, Ariel NH350, BSA M20 |

Hi Chris,
Good to hear of yet more progress. Shame about the photos. The first four
photos posted by you were the correct size, after that they got much larger, did you change the settings on your camera?
If you are stuck, I would be happy for you to email pics to me so I can post them on photobucket if you like?
Let me know, then i could pm you my email address.
Cheers Steve |

OK well still looks pretty big, we shall see.
Brake cylinders and pipes all done, working on the water pump today... ordered a new one but it was wrong so replacement arrived and is hopefully weather permitting this afternoons challenge _________________ HC Viva, J4 van, Ariel NH350, BSA M20 |

Mystery wire... I noticed an extra wire resting behind the fuse box... it doesn't seem to be live but anyone know what it is for?

The pump still fits J4 but different version / age... not sure exactly, as well as a few other models I'm sure...
Bolt holes are the same but 4 holes for the pulley / fan instead of 3 and slightly smaller hose connection and impeller.
Decided to keep it on the 'spares shelf' rather than return, so if anyone thinks they need it let me know _________________ HC Viva, J4 van, Ariel NH350, BSA M20 |
