Chaps, I need to make a footrest to make my 1933 Lagonda more comfortable for my wife. She's 5'3" and as there are no seat belts find that she continually slides forward while riding in the car.
I could simply make a suitably shaped block from MDF and cover it in carpet but I wondered of any of you with older cars had made something similar? I wonder if there was something more period looking? Also, I will need to secure it to the floor to prevent it slipping and interfering with the pedals on my side! Velcro? (not very 1930s), hood pegs (a bit pointed when it's not in place). Turnbuckles? Press studs?
Here's where it has to go...

How about a hinged board (carpeted) with an"H" shaped prop on the back so that it can be laid flat for taller passengers? I'm picturing something like the music stand on a grand piano.

There is a good side to SWMBO being small. She can't reach the pedals so only I drive them |

What about a rail with right-angled brackets at each end bolted to the floor? A friend had one each side in the back of his Sunbeam and you could flip them up with your toe. Scroll down to the bottom of this page to see something similar though item #4111 might be just what you need:
