Hi,
ITV are looking for classic car owners aged 85 and above, who still love to get behind the wheel.
We're working closely with RoSPA (Royal Society of the Prevention of Accidents) to conduct the 'Experienced Drivers Assessment'. We're keen to get in touch with any classic car drivers, who believe they would benefit from taking a non-judgmental assessment at one of our hub days in Thornton Le Dale in East Yorkshire on June 21st.
Would you like to regain confidence, possibly reassure family members, or perhaps feel a refresher course would be extremely beneficial to your driving ability then get in touch.
If you think you would be interested in popping along to our hub day in June, please respond through the platforms stated below. It will be a fun day out and we're keen to get family members and friends along to support everyone taking part.
Please email me directly at mike.ball@rdftelevision.com / or call 0207 013 4115.
I looking forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Mike

Oh jigger! and I'm only 67. I hope this is 'Experienced Drivers Assessment'. still going in 20 years time! I'm already looking forward to it. Do they examine bikers as well?
Cheers, Tony |

You can bet your life that there is a hidden agenda here, not to acknowledge good driving, but to push the view that older drivers are dangerous and should be banned from the road. _________________ Evans Waterless Coolants

Hi
There have been other older older driver prog's before thee one about driving centurions comes to mind.
The "hidden agenda" which always comes up in any of this sort of prog is that c**k ups make good television.
This has been evident also on all the learner driver progs.
So if you are a good driver, perhaps a recent IAM or RoADAR pass or a former class 1 emergency vehicle driver then you probably won't get any on screen time.
If I had something older than a 2000 reg Volvo, I might be tempted, although I am only 75, as a former RoADAR Gold driver (they have failed to contact me for retests since 2014 when my last one was due)
They might also be trying out your navigation skills in getting there, after all Thornton Le Dale is in North Yorkshire not East Yorkshire. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

If it is "judged" by those who can "Parallel Park", can check "Blind Spots", know when they are "Out of the Lane" or about to have a "Collision" because the guy in front slowed down, can judge when to "Dip Headlights" or turn on wipers, identify a soft tyre, calculate that an oil change is required or work out how far half a tank of petrol can take them etc ... etc.
Far too much of the minority wanting to rule the world.
A few years ago I was selected at a "traffic stop". a young traffic policeman asked me if I have ever used my phone when driving.
"Certainly not" I replied. The cable won't even reach down the length of my driveway" |

I'm afraid I agree with the sentiments expressed above.
While some older drivers can get easily confused and make mistakes so do plenty of younger drivers who usually manage to do it high speed.
However the exuberance of youth does not make as good television or give as some old duffers getting in a muddle. _________________ Thirty years selling imperial hand tools for old machinery(Now happily retired). |

Hi
nteresting????
I recognised the name of ONE programme which I would switch on the TV, if I had nothing better to do.
The rest, I would rather watch grass grow. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.
